It Is Halloween

Not a big deal in the UK, I’ve heard, but big enough here.   TLK is going to be dressed up as a cat, which is a good alternative to her first pick.

My office (the brand new one) is having a pet parade tomorrow.   I am not taking my dogs, but I’ll be taking my camera to photograph the ones who do show up.    Last year, there was a cat, which I spent a lot of my time with.

The weather might be decent for us.  There is nothing too glamourous about Halloween in the freezing cold.

Have fun!

Gift Horses

Yesterday, TLK and I ventured into Wal-Mart mid-rush hour for a whirlwind shopping expedition for miscellaneous things.    When I checked out, I grabbed all the bags from the carousel and went home.    I noticed, when I got there, that I had an odd bag of “not my stuff”:  Two heads of iceberg lettuce, 2 plum tomatoes and 4 pears.

Thankfully, all my stuff was there (especially the peanut butter!), plus someone else’s.   I wish they’d picked something better than iceberg lettuce… like … I don’t know… coffee or chocolate or something.   Turnips.   :)

Have you ever ended up with someone else’s groceries?  If so, what did you get?   :)

I CAN be brave, and it’s my brother’s birthday…

I am “winging it” without Ambien now. I’m going to have to sleep without hypnotic medication. Can you believe it? So far, so good, though. I didn’t sleep through the night, but I did here and there, and got some rest during the remainder of the time.

Ambien is very addictive, even though they say it’s not. It may be more the feeling of a guaranteed nights’ sleep that’s addictive, rather than the drug itself.

In any event, I’m going without it now.   I’ll be fine.   :)     Do you know that Ambien is used to help Air Force pilots sleep after missions?   Also, it’s supposed to be helpful in the treatment of restless leg syndrome.

In other news, my brother’s birthday is today!  I enjoy having a sibling only 15 months younger than me. Just as I am thinking, “I can’t believe I’m (this age)”, his birthday comes along, and then I realise I’m not the only one hitting those ages. hehe

I love my brother.    He IS a nut.    The last time I was with him, he tried to scare the heck out of a large flock of birds (very large crows, I believe) in the Wal-Mart parking lot by aiming at them with his SUV and putting his foot down (heavily) on the gas pedal… braking just before he got to them.

Off they went.    (no birds were damaged, although they might have been scared slightly during this scientific experiment)    I should hasten to mention that I love all animals, for the sake of any PETA employees who might be reading this.

The funny part was the man standing in the parking lot, he noticed afterwards, staring at him like “WTF are you doing?”

I hope he has a fun day (although I suspect he is working!)
