Bread Experiments

I’ve been messing around with my bread machine the last few weeks. I have yet to find a recipe that delivers a soft crust, but today’s loaf at least has a nice-tasting inside. It really turned out like french bread, which is not a bad thing.

Do you have a good bread machine recipe?

    I do not. But my cousin does. I will get it for you and email you.

    That would be because bread crust is not supposed to be soft. If so, they wouldn’t have called it crust. ;o}

    :P It does get softer, though, if you put it in a plastic bag.

    Irish soda bread is very good, and it doesn’t have much of a crust.

    I find the trick to making good bread with a bread machine is to put the finished dough in a proper pan and bake it in the oven. Brushing the top with lots of butter should keep the top soft.

    Your dad is right, though. Crust should be crispy. :)
