Echos from the shower

“Mom?”

“Yes?” I respond from the living room, where I am cuddled up with my warm blanket and a book, and paging through channels on the television.

I don’t know why I bother responding.  Somehow I can hear her when she calls my name from the shower, but she cannot hear me.

I put down the footstool of the chair I’m sitting it, put down the stuff in my lap and walk into the bath.

“What did you need?” I ask.

“Mom?   What are the two things that cause hiccups?”

(ergh)

    lol.

Ahh the genius inquiring mind of an eight year-old.

I’m trying to rack my brains to think what the two things that can cause hiccups are. I think one might be Buddha’s toenails but I’m not sure what the other one is.

More about hiccups than you’d like to know: http://kidshealth.org/kid/talk/qa/hiccup.html :D Hiccups are one of those emergency situations worth hollering for your mom from the shower for. Good thing we live in a flat. (of course, in a house, the same thing would happen.. I would just have further to walk). :)
